Meet the Team

Dr. Rocio Zaragoza Santacruz is the owner and dentist at Azara Dentistry, where she is dedicated to helping patients achieve healthy, confident smiles through compassionate, patient-centered care. She joined the practice in June 2026, bringing with her a strong commitment to education, community service, and lifelong learning.

Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Zaragoza Santacruz developed a passion for dentistry at an early age. Inspired by the positive experiences she had with her own female dentists and hygienists growing up, she knew as early as fifth grade that she wanted to pursue a career in dentistry. After earning her undergraduate degree from Georgia Tech, she attended the UCLA School of Dentistry, graduating in 2023. Following dental school, she moved to San Diego to fulfill a two-year commitment with the National Health Service Corps, providing care at a nonprofit organization and serving communities in need.

What Dr. Zaragoza Santacruz loves most about dentistry is the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. She understands that oral health can sometimes take a back seat during challenging times and takes pride in helping patients rebuild not only their smiles, but also their confidence and ability to function comfortably. She enjoys forming lasting relationships with her patients and empowering them through education about their oral health.

Dr. Zaragoza Santacruz knew she had chosen the right profession when she found herself constantly excited to continue learning. Because dentistry is always evolving, she embraces continuing education opportunities and enjoys bringing new techniques and knowledge back to her patients. Her enthusiasm for growth and innovation continues to fuel her passion for the field.

Professionally, Dr. Zaragoza Santacruz is actively involved in several dental organizations and leadership roles. She serves as Co-Secretary for the San Diego component of the Academy of General Dentistry and is a member of the Recruitment and Retention Committee for the San Diego Dental Society. She also participates in the Hiossen Implant Study Club and Oral Facial Pain Study Club and volunteers as faculty at the UCSD Free Dental Clinic in downtown San Diego.

Outside the office, Dr. Zaragoza Santacruz enjoys visiting her family in Georgia whenever she can and still misses Atlanta’s famous hot wings and vibrant culture. In her free time, she enjoys playing pickleball and golf, attending baseball games, practicing Pilates, relaxing with sauna wraps, and exploring new restaurants throughout the area.
